Supervised Psychological Services

As a graduate of a doctorate in clinical psychology, I provide psychological services in addition to clinical counseling as an RCC.

These services are provided under the supervision of Dr. Francois Botha, who is registered with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (#2277).

Dr. Botha is an experienced psychologist and clinical supervisor.

He was my primary supervisor at Adler Community Health Services, where I completed a year-long full-time clinical residency. Upon completion of the residency, Dr. Botha agreed to provide supervision and consultation on my therapy and assessment services following the completion of my residency.

  • Doctoral training in clinical psychology differentiates itself from counseling training both in its length and breadth.

The doctorate in clinical psychology at Adler University is five years long versus two years, which is typical for a master’s in counseling.

This allows doctoral students to take a much greater variety of courses. The PsyD also requires a much higher amount of overall training hours; as such, my clinical skills have been evaluated much more rigorously.

This training culminates in a full-time year-long clinical residency under the supervision of registered psychologists. Additionally, doctoral training involves education in both assessment and diagnosis.

As such, I have experience assessing and diagnosing a variety of psychiatric conditions, including (but not limited to) Major Depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, ADHD, PTSD, cPTSD, and Borderline Personality Disorder.

Finally, doctoral training includes the development, writing, and defense of a doctoral dissertation. In my research, I critically examined the role of personal development in psychotherapy training and developed a new model of training in psychotherapy based on Integral Theory.

  • For all intents and purposes, my approach to therapy will be nearly identical.

The critical difference is that if we work together in this way, these services may be covered by insurance benefits, which cover a Registered Psychologist. Given that Dr. Botha also supervises these services, I may also consult and receive guidance about our work together with him. This is to your benefit, as there will be an extra set of eyes on the work we are doing together.

  • I am able to provide assessments under the supervision of Dr. Botha. Please consult the assessment page for more information.

  • I am not a registered psychologist, nor have I begun the application process with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia or any other governing body in Canada. I am currently focusing on private practice work and aim to begin the application process to register as a psychologist within the next year.
